Extended fall camping at six northwest parks

Cooler weather. No bugs. The pumpkin pie aroma wafting from your campfire, and the warmth of hot chocolate in your hands.

It must be fall camping season!

Searching for the perfect destination? These six northwestern parks will be extending their camping seasons this year:

Arrow Lake Provincial Park

Open until October 15, 2024

Visit Arrow Lake to get away from it all!

Their 40-site campground offers a rustic camping experience with no electricity or running water.

Paddle Arrow Lake’s stunning shoreline and angle for Lake Trout, Northern Pike, Small-mouth Bass, Walleye, Whitefish, and Yellow Perch.

Two boat launches are located within Arrow Lake’s campground.

Blue Lake Provincial Park

Open until September 30, 2024

Whether you’re taking a hike on park trails or going for a paddle, the crystal-clear waters of Blue Lake will amaze you.

Don’t forget to take in the park’s breathtaking sunsets! Grab a lawn chair and a blanket, and enjoy the nightly view from the park’s long sand beach.

Blue Lake offers five travel trailer rentals, which sleep six and feature a cook stove, fridge, heater, air conditioner, dinette, couch, running potable water, and a functional shower. Remember to bring your own cookware, dishes, utensils, coffee maker, and linens!

Caliper Lake Provincial Park

Open until October 15, 2024

Caliper Lake is one of our secret gems. Camp amid remnants of old growth Red and White Pine stands. Test out your birding skills, or try your luck angling for Northern Pike, Walleye, or Small-mouth Bass out on the lake.

Reserve one of the eight picturesque walk-in campsites along the lakeshore for a bit more privacy.

Sandbar Lake Provincial Park

Open until September 22, 2024

This small campground lets you camp amid 300-year-old Red and White Pines.

Bring a chair to relax on the sandy beach, catch some sun, and read a good book while watching shorebirds at the water’s edge.

Paddle through some of the finest fishing lakes in northern Ontario (canoe, kayak, and motorboat rentals are available). A fish-cleaning station with lights, running water, and cutting tables is located by the boat launch.

Silver Falls Provincial Park

Open until October 15, 2024

Silver Falls’ 56-site campground offers a rustic camping experience with no electricity or running water.

Paddle through Dog Lake or Little Dog Lake — both have lots of lovely shorelines to explore!

Their 10 km Silver Falls Trail is one of the classic hiking trails in the Thunder Bay area. It takes hikers through views of falls, forests, and valleys. Most use this challenging trail as a linear trail or park a second car at the lookout if you only wish to hike the trail one way.

Wanting a more relaxed stay? Pack a fall picnic and relax on the sandy beach located close to the park’s campground.

Sioux Narrows Provincial Park

Open until October 15, 2024

Situated along the shoreline of Lake of the Woods on the edge of the Canadian Shield, bedrock outcrops and towering White Pines make each campsite special. This small park also features eight walk-in campsites.

Lake lovers can enjoy recreational opportunities like boating, swimming, sailing, and canoeing at your doorstep. The lake is well known for its Walleye and bass fishing, so bring your fishing gear!
