Planning a northern getaway this summer but not sure which park’s the best fit?
Northern Ontario has something for everyone!
Anglers: Fushimi Lake Provincial Park
Northeastern Ontario is widely known among anglers as a world-class fishing destination, and Fushimi Lake Provincial Park is no exception.

Avid fishers can find Walleye, Northern Pike, Yellow Perch, and Lake Whitefish in Fushimi Lake. Once you’ve caught your fish, head over to the park’s fish cleaning hut for processing
Those looking to get off the shorelines can launch into Fushimi Lake from its boat launch or rent one of the many watercrafts on offer.
If you’re an avid angler looking to journey north, try out Fushimi Lake!
Please remember to consult the Ontario Fishing Regulations before dropping your line!
Hikers: Rainbow Falls Provincial Park

Head on up to Rainbow Falls Provincial Park this summer to explore a variety of trails for all types of hikers!
For those that crave a picturesque lookout, hike the Rainbow Falls Trail. It leads you through the forest, over a bridge across cascades, and eventually climbs to a lookout with panoramic views of Lake Superior.
For the more seasoned hiker, Rainbow Falls connects to the wider Casque Isles Hiking Trail, providing over 52 km of challenging hiking.

Ambitious hikers have been known to tackle the entire Casque Isles Hiking Trail. For those looking for a shorter, yet still challenging hike, try the 13 km Schreiber Channel segment located in the park.
We can guarantee: Rainbow Falls’ trails will keep you coming back for more!
Cyclists: Kettle Lakes Provincial Park
Prefer to hit the trail on two tires instead of two feet?

Kettle Lakes Provincial Park has over 14 km of dedicated biking trails to explore, ranging from easy to difficult.
With an interconnected system of trails, cyclists can spend the whole day on the trails!
If you’re in need of a mid-ride cool down, the Yellow Trail accesses Slab Lake, one of the park’s 22 spring-fed lakes.
Stargazers: Quetico Provincial Park

Eager to spend more time looking up at the stars? Quetico Provincial Park is for you!
This park is a designated International Dark Sky Park by the International Dark Sky Association, offering pristine night sky viewing — some of the best in the province!
Book your overnight stay in one of Quetico’s rustic cabins or camping pods, car camping or backcountry sites, and wait for the stars to emerge. Bring along your binoculars or telescope for prime viewing.
Amateur astronomers, Quetico is calling.

Pst! If you’re lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights!
Waterfall chasers: Kakabeka Falls Provincial Park
Can’t get enough of the roaring and rumbling sound of falling water? Kakabeka Falls Provincial Park is the perfect place for you.

The titular falls are the second highest in Ontario, right behind Niagara Falls, and can be experienced from a series of viewing platforms around the falls.
Get a good look at the falls via viewing pods accessible from a nearby parking lot. The boardwalk and pedestrian bridge are wheelchair friendly.
Be sure to bring your camera — these falls are particularly photogenic.
Swimmers: Halfway Lake Provincial Park
Nothing pair better with a hot summer day better than a dip in one of Ontario’s over 250,000 lakes!
If you find yourself in Northern Ontario looking for a great swimming destination, check out Halfway Lake Provincial Park.

Halfway Lake is perfect for swimming the day away, featuring two sandy beaches with shallow waters, making it a great spot for the whole family. The park even has a beach for our furry friends who love to doggy paddle.
Remember, children and non-swimmers should wear a personal flotation device or lifejacket when near the water.
Explorers: check the park locator!
Don’t see your favourite park activity or hobby here? Check the park locator! It’ll help you choose your desired parks based on what services, amenities, and actives are on offer.
